Spotlight on Tad Chapman, Business Development Manager

Posted on 16 Mar 18

In this month’s spotlight feature, we interview Tad Chapman, Business Development Manager

Q. Tell us about your role at Active IQ, how long have you worked here and what you most enjoy?
A. I am one of the Business Development team having joined Active IQ in 2016. We support prospective and current centres to deliver the training they want, in the way they want. My job involves driving around the country, talking to people about being active, keeping fit and playing sport- what’s not to like?! My particular passions are in coaching, performance and strength & conditioning.

Q. What advice can you give people who aspire to be where you are?
A. Aim higher!

Q. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A. Happy. So far, so good!

Q. Tell us something we would never guess about you?
A. I briefly featured in an episode of Challenge Anneka in 1991- looking adorable, by the way! It’s on YouTube now for posterity.

Q. What is the best advice you have ever been given?
A. “The best coaches are thieves” – whether it’s coaching, teaching, or just being better at your job; watch people around you, steal the good habits, avoid the bad ones… and develop.

Q. Which exercise do you most enjoy?
A. Olympic lifting- I’m at my happiest when I’m throwing some ‘tin’ around in my gym. I also play rugby, so that keeps me pretty fit, and have recently been getting into snowboarding too.

Q. Any hidden talents?
A. I can complete a Rubik’s Cube in less than 2 minutes (on a good day!).
