Active IQ is delighted to announce that for the second year in a row it will be sponsoring the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at this year’s Sport & Recreation Alliance Community Sport and Recreation Awards. The awards will be taking place on the 6th March at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.

For over twenty years, the Community Sport and Recreation Awards have been showcasing the positive impact of grassroots sport in local communities up and down the country. The Mental Health and Wellbeing Award celebrates clubs or programmes which use the power of sport and recreation to promote and enhance positive wellbeing. The three finalists, who are all ambassadors for mental health and promote good wellbeing policies, are: Watford FC CSE Trust, Mansfield Runners and Moving Forces.

Speaking about the awards, Jenny Patrickson, Managing Director for Active IQ said: “Mental health is still very much in the spotlight. Now more than ever actions speak far louder than words as individuals and organisations are increasingly faced with friends, colleagues, peers and customers experiencing mental health issues.

“Those within a community sport setting can play an important role when it comes to spotting the signs and offering support to those struggling with mental ill health.

“Sport and exercise can be a powerful tool to help those through a difficult time and we would like to wish all three finalists the very best of luck. All are worthy winners, doing valuable work to promote good mental health policies and practices.”

The day will be a real celebration of grassroots sport and recreation and an opportunity for attendees to learn and share with clubs across England, how to keep changing lives and improving communities through sport and recreation. The Awards ceremony will be hosted by the Alliance’s President, His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex.
