In this month’s spotlight feature, we interview Cate Parnell, Customer Service Administrator

Q. Tell us about your role at Active IQ, how long have you worked here and what you most enjoy?

A. I have only been with Active IQ since January this year, it’s a completely different job role for me, but I am absolutely loving it.

Q. What advice can you give people who aspire to be where you are?

A. You are never too old to learn new skills and change direction in your life. Just give it a go!

Q. What did you want to be when you were growing up?

A. I wanted to work in forensic science or dentistry, but my love of fitness pushed me towards being an instructor.

Q. Tell us something we would never guess about you?

A. Some of you know about my bodybuilding achievement of which I’m really proud. Very few people know I am part of a women’s team who hold a British and World record for 100K Relay Row, Indoor ERG. We set a new record last year of 5 hours 23 minutes and 33 seconds.

Q. What is the best advice you have ever been given?

A. My mother always says, “Never end the day on an argument, it’ll ruin tomorrow” and “There are no regrets in life, just lessons”.

Q. Which exercise do you most enjoy?

A. Has to be BodyCombat BodyPump and Spin. My 3 favourites – love the pain of them.

Q. Any hidden talents?

A. A little bit of lip reading- used to come in useful when teaching and the music was up loud, I could read how hard the class was!

Q. How would you describe yourself in three words?

A. Happy, helpful and healthy!
