Active IQ has awarded Professional Recognition to FIT UK’s Mental Health Awareness within Physical Activity and Sport CPD programme. Collaborating with Everton in the Community, the programme was launched during mental health awareness week to raise awareness of the issues surrounding mental health within physical activity and sport.
The need for knowledgeable professionals within this area has become increasingly apparent in recent years, with a growing awareness within the industry of the role physical activity plays in maintaining and improving mental wellbeing. Active IQ recognises the importance of making people aware of mental health issues within the active leisure sector and has therefore given the programme its full endorsement.
Johnnie Garside – Health and Wellbeing manager of Everton Football club gives an overview of the programme
FIT UK Director of Business Development Alan Reddin said “As a response to the growing appetite and feedback from organisations and individuals within the active leisure and community sports sectors to learn more about mental health and how it links to physical activity and sport, we and Everton in the Community collaborated to develop this professionally recognised course. FIT UK and Everton in the Community would like to thank Active IQ for their endorsement and to acknowledge organisations such as Mind, Time-to-change, the Premier League, the Football Association and Mental Health Football Association for their contributions to content and delivery of Mental Health Awareness in Physical Activity and Sport”.
