As you will be aware, Ofqual carried out several extensive consultations during 2014 and 2015, with the outcomes of these consultations seeing both the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) and the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) being withdrawn, and the new Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) commencing from the 1st October 2015.
With the introduction of the RQF there are a number of changes Active IQ is required to make to its existing qualifications for transition from the QCF and NQF on to the new framework, and these will be completed over the next 12 to 18 months.
The first change that Active IQ will be making to ensure our continued compliance with Ofqual’s Conditions of Recognition is the removal of the bracketed reference of (QCF) from our certificates. As an example, this will mean that the current title of “Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (QCF)” will be slightly amended to “Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing”.
In order to make this change within our certification software, Active IQ will NOT be processing or generating any certificates on the following two days:
- 28th January 2016
- 29th January 2016
All certificates processed and generated prior to 28th January 2016 will continue to have the bracketed reference of (QCF) in the title of the qualification. Any certificates processed and generated by Active IQ after the 28th January 2016 will have the bracketed reference (QCF) removed from the title. There may be some instances where centres will have submitted certificate claims before 28th January 2016 that cannot be generated by Active IQ prior to the titling change. In instances such as these there is no cause for concern. The certificates (once generated) will simply have the bracketed reference of (QCF) removed from the title.
Please be assured this small amendment to the titling of our qualifications does not affect the qualification itself, or the achievement of the learner in any way.
In addition to the above amendment, Active IQ will be removing the term (QCF) from all of its documentation and published resources over the next 12- 18 months. This is a significant task that will be implemented in a phased and planned approach in order to meet Ofqual’s timeframe of full completion by 31st December 2017. This work will also involve the review of all qualifications to meet Ofqual’s new Conditions of Recognition in relation to Total Qualification Time (TQT) and Guided Learning (GLH). Further information on this aspect of the task will follow in due course.
In the meantime, if you receive or read documentation that makes reference to the QCF, there is no cause for concern as Ofqual recognise the required amends to the titling of qualifications is a sizeable task for all awarding organisations and, as such, will take time to complete. However, if you have any concerns or would like to discuss anything contained within this email please do not hesitate to contact Lee Buck on firstname.lastname@example.org.
