Active IQ is boosting the skills and confidence of trainers and assessors in the active leisure industry through delivering a range of Professional Career Development qualifications.

At a time when the professionalisation of the industry and upholding standards are of prime importance across the sector, the Active IQ Professional Career Development training seeks to equip trainers and assessors with the necessary skills to ensure quality assurance, effective training and high levels of safety at their respective training and leisure centres.

Active IQ’s Professional Career Development service enables individuals to progress to the next stage of their career by developing their knowledge and understanding of teaching, assessing, internal and/or external quality assurance. Active IQ brings an expert, external view to an organisation’s current training and assessment ability and tailors its training to ensure business or sector-specific aims are achieved.

One example of this is the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) which put its trust in the Active IQ Professional Career Development service to ensure its trainers are highly skilled in delivering lifesaving courses. “The Active IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training Award gives our trainers skills and confidence to deliver our First Aid suite of qualifications. We chose Active IQ as they were able to tailor their approach to meet our specific needs, they provide excellent customer service and are also competitive on price,” says Director of IQL UK and Water Safety Management, Martin Symcox.

Another example is the Active IQ Qualifications undertaken by the Les Mills’ Trainer Team that delivers its world-renowned training in Les Mills programmes to instructors.

“It was important that we chose a qualification that was nationally recognised and could be delivered flexibly around the schedule of an extremely busy team,” says Jean-Ann Marnoch Les Mills Instructor Experience Director. “The Active IQ Level 3 Education and Training Award is delivered online and supported by an excellent team at AIQ. The content is relevant to the trainers’ needs and it gives the team and Les Mills reassurance that we are delivering the best training with qualified trainers who are highly skilled and motivated.”

Renowned as a leading specialist awarding organisation for the active leisure sector, Active IQ has now broadened its offer with its diverse range of support services.  Using its expertise as an awarding organisation and experience working with training providers, Active IQ has a unique insight into the challenges and opportunities presented to trainers and assessors.

A range of qualifications is available including:

  • Active IQ Level 3 Award in Education and Training
  • Active IQ Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
  • Active IQ Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement
  • Active IQ Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
  • Active IQ Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
  • Active IQ Level 4 Award in Understanding the External Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

The training primarily comprises an online programme including an eClinic, eLearning, one-to-one tutor guidance and assessment. Some qualifications also include live webinars to enhance the learning process. Depending on the qualification, the training can take between two weeks and six months to complete.

“Our Professional Career Development service sets out to build the skills of trainers and assessors so they can deliver training and assessments with confidence,” says Jenny Patrickson, Active IQ managing director. “It is always a privilege to work closely with businesses to support them in fulfilling their own training and assessment criteria in their respective fields of work. By helping to hone their skills, build their confidence, help them deliver training and manage assessments at a high level, we aim to ensure quality assurance and high standards.”
