Active IQ – the UK’s leading Ofqual-recognised Awarding Organisation for the Active Leisure, Learning and Wellbeing Sector – is delighted to be accepted on to the new Register of Apprentice Assessment Organisations. With immediate effect, Active IQ is approved to act as an End Point Assessment organisation for training providers and employers delivering new apprenticeship standards in Customer Service Practitioner and Team Leader/Supervisor qualifications.
Active IQ is one of the first organisations to achieve this status at the first attempt. Its appointment shows the Government’s Skills Funding Agency (SFA) has recognised its robust processes and procedures, expertise in the field of assessment and rigorous approach to quality assurance.
“Our entry onto the RoAAO for the Customer Service Practitioner and Team Leader/Supervisor standards is great news and represents an opportunity to extend our approach to maintaining high quality standards of assessment within qualifications to that of End Point Assessment for apprenticeships,” says Sarah Edmonds, Director of Quality and Standards at Active IQ. “In effect, this means an apprentice who undertakes an End Point Assessment with Active IQ will be able to demonstrate that they fully meet the demands of their employment through the skills, competence, behaviours and knowledge obtained throughout their apprenticeship journey.”
“Furthermore, we are well placed for when the new Active Leisure sector apprenticeship standards are fully signed off and operational and are currently supporting CIMSPA to develop innovative approaches that will enrich the apprenticeship journey,” continues Sarah. “As an approved AO we can also add vital support to all those involved in the transition from existing apprenticeship frameworks to new apprenticeship standards. The advent of the Apprenticeship Levy is a great opportunity for the leisure industry to be seen as an exciting profession that offers dynamic career options. We feel privileged to have been appointed so early on in the process and will do our utmost to fulfil our responsibilities to ensure the high quality and integrity of apprenticeships.”
The announcement has been welcomed by ukactive which is encouraged by the decision. “We are pleased to see Active IQ has been approved as an End Point Assessment organisation and this gives us confidence that the SFA is putting the final pieces of the new structure into place,” says Steve Ward, ukactive Executive Director. “There are bound to be questions as the industry’s apprenticeship provision transitions under the new Levy and from frameworks to standards. Having businesses of Active IQ’s calibre in place will give the industry reassurance that their apprenticeship provision will be carefully vetted and, where necessary, improved to enable them to deliver the best possible programmes to safeguard and enhance the standards within our industry.”
