Active IQ

This qualification is for leisure centre employees responsible for an operational role acting under supervision.

Qualification structure and credit value

This NVQ consists of 4 mandatory units (13 credits) and a minimum of 4 optional units (minimum of 7 credits), total of 20 credits. The optional units can be selected from any of the optional groups shown and are delivered and assessed in the work place.

All learners must successfully complete the following units:

• Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation (L/601/0933) – this unit is worth 5 credits
• Support the work of the team and organisation (Y/601/4483) – this unit is worth 2 credits
• Promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and recreation (D/601/4484) – this unit is worth 4 credits
• Support equality and diversity in active leisure and recreation (H/601/4485) – this unit is worth 2 credits

Optional units

Learners must complete four of the following optional units:

Equipment

• Set up, take down and store activity equipment (K/601/4486) – this unit is worth 3 credits
• Check and service activity equipment (M/601/4487) – this unit is worth 3 credits
• Site caravans on parks (A/601/4489) – this unit is worth 3 credits

Facilities

• Clean and tidy facility areas (M/601/4490) this unit is worth 2 credits
• Deal with substances hazardous to health (T/601/4491) this unit is worth 2 credits
• Operate plant to maintain the quality of pool water (A/601/4492) this unit is worth 4 credits
• Operate plant to provide and maintain an ice surface (F/601/4493) this unit is worth 4 credits
• Carry out maintenance and minor repairs (A/600/6344) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Prepare hard standings and paths for caravans (J/601/4494) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Use and maintain pedestrian controlled powered equipment (R/502/0434) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Use and maintain ride-on powered equipment (R/502/0440) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Use and maintain chippers and/or shredders (T/502/0443) – this unit is worth 3 credits
• Use and maintain non-powered and hand held powered tools and equipment (K/502/0438) – this unit is worth 3 credits
• Maintain grounds of premises and facilities (H/601/6513) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Monitor and maintain electrical and plumbing services (Y/601/6542) this unit is worth 4 credits
• Maintain site security and safety (J/601/6522) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Check and maintain sport/ play surfaces and equipment (D/601/4050) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Contribute to environmental conservation in active leisure and recreation (L/601/4495) this unit is worth 6 credits

Customer Care

• Maintain the safety of the pool environment and its users (R/601/4496) this unit is worth 4 credits
• Maintain the safety of the ice rink environment and its users (D/601/4498) this unit is worth 3 credits
• Process payments for purchases (H/601/4499) this unit is worth 2 credits
• Provide a facility reception service (L/601/4500) this unit is worth 2 credits
• Resolve customer service problems (M/601/1511) this unit is worth 6 credits

Team Leading
