Introduction

The Active IQ Award in Adapting Fitness Instruction for Adolescents is at level 2 on the Qualifications and Credit Framework. This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and skills required to be able to adapt fitness instruction to accommodate adolescents providing an understanding of the physiological and psychological issues they face and how they affect their ability to exercise

The learner must achieve 2 units, 1 mandatory and a minimum of 1 optional unit. The total credit value is minimum of 4 credits/maximum of 5 credits.

  • Development of adolescents in relation to fitness instruction (R/600/2588) – this unit is worth 3 credit values.

Optional pathways

  • Principles of adapting gym instruction for adolescents (L/600/2590) – this unit is worth 1 credit value.
  • Principles of adapting group exercise for adolescents (Y/600/2592) – this unit is worth 1 credit value.
