Entry requirements

Candidates must hold a Level 2 qualification in Fitness Instructing (Gym/ETM) or equivalent. Some experience of circuit training is useful but not essential. The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary. There is also a degree of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved, and candidates should have basic skills in communication pitched at Level 2.

  • Unit 2 – Instructing a Group Circuit Training Session (D/102/4316).

Assessment

Internally assessed:

  • Direct observation of the candidate instructing a circuit training session
  • Candidates are also required to evaluate their own performance and write an action plan for improvement.

Externally assessed:

  • Detailed session plan to include warm up, main session and cool down components, with circuit layout, teaching points, objectives and alternative exercises.
